iWeathar Aviator / Vox Twister Tornado Weather Station Review

iWeather – A Weather Station with Many Names
Doing the rounds, as tends to happen these days, is the “new” but not so new iWeather Tornado Weather Station. This 3D printed weather station, manufactured in SA, is being marketed until multiple names. Twister Aviator / iWeather Tornado and now the VOX Weather Tornado Twister. But they are all one and the same and we will delve into the depths of this weather station.
Is it really a Vox Weather station?
Well, technically no it is not. The real name for this weather station is the iWeathar Tornado / iWeathar Tornado Aviator / Iweather Twister Aviator.
The manufacturer is Russell Troy Witthuhn from iWeather and Vox Weather has nothing to do with any of the manufacturing except having their logo slapped onto it.
The iWeather Tornado has been around for a while and Vox Weather are merely now essentially just resellers for iWeather and simply took an existing product and gave it their own name, in fact not a very creative one either as they simply picked two words out of the above names 😀 Nothing wrong I guess but it’s not really a Vox Weather Station by any means.
This Weather Station costs R11900.00 directly from iWeathar and R13685.00 from Vox Weather.

Tornado Weather Station Made in South Africa using 3D printing technology
The iWeathar Tornado Weather Station / Vox Tornado Twister is made in South Africa using 3D printing technology. 3D printing technology has come a long way indeed but as far as high quality plastics, used in weather station manufacturing around the world, we don’t believe that long term this kind of material will last very well. The fact that the weather station is claimed to be “Bio-Degradable” is already cause for concern.
Sure we could do with less plastics in this world but bio-degradable weather stations sounds rather dodgy to say the least especially when you only get a 12 month warranty on this.
South Africa has some extremely harsh UV especially during the summer months which gives a beating even to properly UV stabilised plastics, so 3D printed plastics are somewhat questionable in that regard.
Installing an iWeathar / Vox Tornado Weather Station
Ok, we have to raise some concern here, ease of installation is supposedly “praised by users” but the installation method says “Anyone who knows how to use a cable tie or tie back is able to install a station without any technical knowledge.”
Is this for real?
Using 4 Cable ties to attached a R12000 – R14000 weather station to a pole with 4 cable ties? We are utterly astounded.
Weather stations at 1/4 this price come with proper metal brackets not cable ties, even some of the cheapest Alibaba crap weather stations come with mounting brackets.
This is rather ridiculous and we say good luck to any owner of such a weather station that is willing to leave 4 cable ties up to the elements and severe weather in South Africa.

Accessing YOUR Tornado Weather Station Data
There is a catch to this Tornado weather station, you are required to pay an annual subscription of R1668.00 to be able to access YOUR own data. 🤔 Your data, your weather station, but you have to pay to get your data? 🤔
In addition, your weather stations data is used, and I quote Vox “to build our own private network for weather observations” … so your data get’s used to build a private network for Vox????????? 🤔 but you have to pay to establish this for them? Sounds like bullshit to us.
If you’re happy with that, then good for you, but there are higher quality weather stations at less than half this price, with 2 year warranties, with 99% more features and functionality and ABSOLUTELY NO SUBSCRIPTION FEES TO LOG OR ACCESS YOUR DATA
Also note, their subscription fee does NOT include your SIM card or your data / sim packages for that SIM card either.
Can you connect your iWeathar Twister Tornado Weather Station to your own Web Server?
Well, yes you can, but you need to buy 10 units first before the developer will give you the code or interface to do this. Again, why on earth would you pay so much money just to have a feature that already comes free with other weather stations?
Features like this should be available to all users and also for no extra charge, you are already paying a high price for a weather station and an annual subscription.
Can you calibrate the Tornado Weather Station?
Well, that’s a good question and certainly not one that’s answered in the miniscule 2 page instruction manual, so until we know otherwise or until the manufacturer discloses this information, we are going with NO !! Below must be the smallest instruction manual for a very expensive weather station we have ever seen.

Weather Station PRAISED by users?
🤔 This is one that leaves us a bit gobsmacked.
The information below, provided by Google’s generative AI, claims that users praise this weather station. Well considering that Vox only announced this joint venture on the 5th of November 2024 and considering that it takes TWO WEEKS AFTER ORDER to get your weather station how on earth could this information below appear on Google in this clearly manipulated format merely a week or two after their announcement? Before anyone has even received their weather station ? 🤔
Additionally, purchasers of weather stations just DO NOT freely give reviews easily and certainly not within a day or week or month of owning one.
Most weather station owners will perhaps leave a review after they’ve had the station for several months and this is a FACT in this industry !!!!
You just DO NOT get users leaving rave reviews and praising a product they haven’t even used yet or even received yet ????
